Biography

Michelle Brick attended the College of New Jersey where she studied with Dr. Dent Williamson and earned a BM in music education, with an emphasis on flute performance.  Soon after, Michelle’s passion for music and learning drove her back to school to earn her MA in flute performance from Montclair State University’s Cali School of Music.  There she had the privilege of studying with Peggy Schecter, founder of the New Jersey Chamber Music Society, Susan Palma-Nidel, principal flutist of the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra and performed in master classes with some of the industry’s top flutists.

Although a classical player by trade, Michelle’s interest in different genres of music has inspired her to continue her studies in latin, jazz and world music. She has had the honor and pleasure of studying with world-renowned Venezuelan flutist, Marco Granados and jazz and choro virtuoso, Anat Cohen.  As a performer, Michelle has performed as a soloist and in ensembles throughout the United States, England and Colombia.

Michelle has always had a passion for chamber music. Chamber music provides the opportunity for small ensembles to perform together intimately to create unique and meaningful performances. Michelle and her ensembles’ repertoire include music ranging from classical, latin, celtic, jazz, pop and broadway. Whatever the genre of music and ensemble you are looking for, Michelle will ensure that the music will reflect your very own personal style.

Michelle’s ensembles have played weddings, ceremonies, receptions, gallery events, wine tastings, concerts and private parties throughout New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Along with her chamber groups, Michelle currently plays principal flute with the Eastern Wind Symphony under the direction of Todd Nichols. These groups have performed in many venues throughout the east coast area including: Carnegie Hall, New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), The Kennedy Center (Washington D.C.), The Trenton War Memorial, Richardson Auditorium, The Waldorf Astoria, The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, Penn’s Landing and hundreds of churches, gardens, reception halls and beaches.
